Thanks to all the teachers who joined me for my session "Is this going to be on the test? Changing the conversation to proficiency." I enjoyed sharing with you where I am right now on this journey.
The slides from the presentation are on the sidebar, as well as my Proficiency Timeline posters. "What do your AAPPL scores mean?" is a presentation I showed to my students before giving them their AAPPL results. There are charts on the results for each level. I only gave output tests to my Spanish III students, who are a very small group, plus a handful of Spanish II students who opted to take the speaking and writing tests (results not shown). Please note this is the first year I gave the AAPPL exam. We did not know what to expect, but I felt the results were helpful and the majority of my students felt it encouraged them to reach toward greater proficiency. Several teachers asked about the video my students made. I know my students would love to share their creative demonstration of what a proficiency orientation does NOT look like. However, I will need to follow standard protocol and get signed releases from them and parents before I can post that. Check back next week for information on accessing the video. |
